They went from down three to up six pretty quick. So, we’ve gotta figure out how to have a lot better starts to the second half.” At the halftime break, Alabama led the Tigers 42-29. I thought our effort, our intensity, our attention to what the game plan was, was significantly better.” The start was enough, especially after Alabama really got going late in the second half. With 9:24 remaining, Dennis Gates called a timeout following a Wrightsell three that made it 69-46, and his Missouri team had no real shot at getting back into the game.The Coleman Coliseum crowd for Tuesday’s game wasn’t the largest in the building’s history. The cold-weather Tuesday night following a home loss ensured that. However, the group that did show up got to watch the Crimson Tide get back on track. Alabama had lost three in a row at Coleman, and another loss would mean a home losing streak longer than any UA had seen since Oats’ first season in charge. “It’s not for a lack of fan support that we’re not playing well,” Oats said before the game. “I think our fans have been great. Student section’s packed. We got to play better. We got to lock into the defensive end. We’re not consistent with our defensive focus and effort. Offensively, we’ve gone through too many dry spells.” Missouri isn’t anywhere near the best team in the SEC. Still, the victory got Alabama some much-needed momentum entering a tough stretch of schedule.
