3 Stoughton cops had 'inappropriate' relationships with a woman who died by suicide, per internal report

'We take an oath to protect and serve our community and its people,' Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara said. 'These men violated their oaths, and are unfit to serve as police officers.'

Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara said she is turning over the findings to the District Attorney's office, and is working to get the officers decertified, which would prohibit any other law enforcement agencies in the state from hiring them.

"We take an oath to protect and serve our community and its people," McNamara said."These men violated their oaths, and are unfit to serve as police officers." All three officers — Robert Devine, Matthew Farwell and William Farwell — have since left the Stoughton Police department. McNamara said the investigation also found an officer from a different community had inappropriate contact with the woman, as did a military recruiter. She said the other officer's department was contacted, and they are working to contact the appropriate chain of command in the military.
