3 shot and killed in Queens and Bronx shootings over the weekend, NYPD says
Three New Yorkers were killed by gun violence over the weekend, including two brothers who died in what police say was a murder-suicide in Queens.
According to the NYPD, police determined that Karamjit had shot his brother, Vipanpal, and his mother before turning the gun on himself down the street from the family’s home. Police were still investigating the shooting on Monday and had few details about the case. The man’s identity was not immediately released, as police searched for potential suspects.The shootings in the Queens and Bronx come amid a steady uptick in gun violence that typically happens every year during the warmer months, according to criminology experts.
Herrmann said shootings also tend to be concentrated on days and at times when people are more likely to have free time to gather and party.
