3 pedestrians killed in Houston area car crashes this weekend

The woman appeared to have run out of gas and was carrying a gas can while she crossed the street, officials said.
The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle that hit her remained at the scene to cooperate and did not show signs of intoxication or any injuries related to the crash, Houston police said.A man in his mid-20s or 30s was hit while trying to cross FM 1960 Road West in north Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
The man reportedly had left a nearby convenience store around 9:40 p.m. and was trying to cross the road when he was hit by the right corner of a vehicle. When emergency medical services arrived, the man was already deceased, according to the Sheriff's Office. The driver remained at the scene and did not show signs of intoxication, officials told On Scene TV reporters. The crash was under investigation by the Sheriff's Office Vehicular Crimes Division.Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Houston police and firefighters responded to a fatal crash on State Highway 288 at Elgin Street, near downtown.
