3-legged, 11-foot alligator found walking down Missouri City street
An 11 foot alligator was wrangled Sunday morning in Missouri City. The alligator was planned to be taken to a rescue park.An 11-foot, 3-legged alligator was found walking down the street early Sunday in a Missouri City residential neighborhood.
A resident driving in the neighborhood called 9-1-1 when he saw the alligator and a wrangler came to catch it, although the wrangler needed backup since the alligator was too heavy for one person to lift. Timothy DeRamus who handles nuisance alligator control for the State of Texas was called out to Missouri City around 1:30 a.m. to take care of the alligator.Houston's food scene makes it easy for TikTok influencers to go viral, but restaurants can't always keep up When DeRamus arrived, the alligator was on a lawn and it took him about an hour to wrangle the alligator. “He kept throwing the rope off, throwing the towel off, snapping his jaws at me, swinging his tail at me. An alligator this age could have knocked my leg off real easy,” DeRamus told Metro Video Services. Eventually, DeRamus was able to wrangle the alligator and get the alligator’s mouth secure and taped up. Unable to lift the alligator on his own, DeRamus had to get a wrecker to come, which took about 3 hours to arrive, he said.The alligator was missing one of its legs and DeRamus said another, larger alligator in the area likely had ripped it off. “Maybe he was threatened by another alligator and decided he wanted to get out of the water and get away from that alligator so he wouldn't lose another limb,” DeRamus said. The man who initially called 9-1-1 to report the alligator said he had found another alligator in his pool about two weeks ago.
