Rapid technological advancements, evolving industries, and shifting market demands have reshaped the fabric of employment, ushering in an era where adaptability and versatility reign supreme. In this environment, changing careers has become a strategic imperative rather than a mere option.
As people pivot in their careers, they structure their resumes and portfolios to strengthen their skill sets to fill the gaps between their old and new jobs. Although this is encouraged, be mindful of overused words and how to separate yourself from other candidates. Instead, applicants should strive to use more precise and action-oriented language that vividly illustrates their accomplishments and their impact in previous roles. A few alternatives:Directed: Indicates authority and guidance in leading initiatives or teams.In today’s society, everyone needs to be a leader, even if you feel like or are in a position catered to being a follower.
Instead, candidates are encouraged to demonstrate their leadership abilities through specific examples, quantifiable achievements, and descriptions of how they have motivated teams and driven results. Remember to add as many positive numbers as possible. For example, “As a leader of 100 account managers, I make sure to get to know everyone who reports directly to me.”
