Three generations of a country-serving family share an emotional experience together.
NORTH BEND, Ohio. - " Emotional ly, basically all of it was there at the beach," said Armstrong .He also got to reunite with his great-grandson, Staff Sergeant Tanner Armstrong , who participated in a jump demonstration during the ceremony.
It had been months since all three men had been together, separated by hundreds of miles due to service to their country. The three don't just share in a history of military service, they have also all served during wartime, with Maj. Armstrong and Staff Sgt. Armstrong both serving during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The three generations spent nine days in France, honoring and remembering both Henry's service and the service and sacrifice of others.
