3 dead in Lynwood crash after police pursuit in South Gate
A two-vehicle crash on the border of South Gate and Lynwood moments after the end of a police pursuit left three people dead early Sunday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash occurred after a pursuit that started in South Gate. Police in the city said one officer spotted several people possibly stealing catalytic converters from a parked vehicle.That kicked off the pursuit, but the officer called off the chase when the suspects accelerated to dangerous speeds, said Lt. Sergio Camacho of the South Gate Police Department.
A short time after the pursuit ended, the theft suspects continued driving out of South Gate and into Lynwood, where they crashed into another car near Tweedy Boulevard and State Street.None of the dead have been identified yet.Related Articles
