Texture and pops of color are taking center stage in a wearable way that feels mature, fresh, and exciting. Vogue asked pro makeup artists Lisa Eldridge, Emily Wood, and Saba Khan which makeup trends will dominate our minds this spring.

The mood in makeup has been a maximalist one in recent months, from the misty eyes spotted on the runways at London Fashion Week to Zara Larsson’s pink stardust eyeshadow and Jennie Kim’s undereye blush.

In real life, though? The beauty community is championing more wearable takes. Here, pro makeup artists Lisa Eldridge, Emily Wood, and Saba Khan break down five key makeup trends for spring 2026 that are easy to experiment with now. Blue eyeshadow It might seem a little out there, but according to Eldridge, whose clients include Alexa Chung and Kate Winslet, blue eyeshadow has never truly gone away. “Blue has been popular throughout the decades, spanning from Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic eyeshadow in Cleopatra to Kate Moss wearing an icy blue smoky eye for Gucci’s spring show in 1996,” she says. For spring 2026, Eldridge suggests finding which shade brings the most joy and suits you the best. For application, use a small brush for a seamless blend and team your statement blue eye with a lick of mascara for naturally defined lashes. Wood, meanwhile, likes to “take the pigment all the way to the brow bone—pairing it with unexpected matte shades and using an icy blue hue as a top coat”. Muted blush Soft and diffused blush, blended from the apples of your cheeks right up to your temples, is all the rage right now. Eldridge pairs the look with a luminous base and matching eyes and lips to create a seamless monochromatic look. “Blush is constantly evolving depending on the mood or character we want to embody,” shares Khan. “I’m seeing a strong shift towards muted, pastel-toned draping,” she adds. A buffed red lip Popularised by makeup artist Nina Park, the blurred lip trend has been worn by everyone from Lily-Rose Depp to Zoë Kravitz and Greta Lee. Shake things up on the color front this spring with a buffed red lip. Start by lining your lips, gently buffing it out with a brush to get rid of harsh lines, then apply your lipstick and gently pat your finger over the lips to work the product in.
