Sulynnette Vega-Ledesma of Anchorage will be competing in snowboarding while Teagan Lockwood of Tanana Valley and Nathaniel Hunt of Mat-Su will be competing in alpine skiing.
Three members of Special Olympics Alaska have been selected to represent the United States in Turin, Italy, at the 2025 Special Olympic Winter World Games.
Joining the 160-member delegation that will be heading overseas next spring for the games that will take place March 8-16 is Anchorage snowboarder Sulynnette Vega-Ledesma, Tanana Valley’s Teagan Lockwood and Mat-Su’s Nathaniel Hunt who will be competing in alpine skiing. Anchorage’s Jason Kohler will also be the head Alpine skiing coach for Team USA.
“We are incredibly proud to see our athletes and coach representing Alaska on the global stage at the 2025 Winter World Games in Turin, Italy,” Special Olympics Alaska President/CEO Sarah Arts said in a statement. “This is a remarkable opportunity for our athletes to showcase their talents and dedication, highlighting the strength and spirit of our Special Olympics Alaska community. We are confident that they will inspire the world with their performances and bring home unforgettable memories.
The games will be broadcast across ESPN’s television networks and digital platforms with extensive coverage for fans and supporters of the Special Olympics globally.
