This find happened during excavations at the Moors at Arne project, located near Poole Harbor in Dorset.
This expedition was led by experts from Wessex Archaeology. It aims to establish new coastal habitats to help offset habitat loss driven by climate change. Additionally, the project intends to transform more than 150 hectares of land to eventually develop diverse wetlands., this discovery is as old as the Bronze Age, and the spade showcases humans’ long-standing relationship with the challenging waterlogged landscape.
Further analysis revealed that the spade was constructed from one solid piece of wood, which required a lot of manual labor.
