427 pounds of cocaine was being transported in a commercial truck filled with papier-mâché handicrafts.
LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations at the Laredo Port of Entry, seized $3.2 million in cocaine that was coming into Texas from Mexico on April 8.
According to the agency, the drug was being transported in a commercial truck filled with papier-mâché handicrafts. The truck was pulled over for a secondary examination by the CBP officer working at Laredo’s World Trade Bridge, which is one of four international bridges in the area. The search uncovered 427 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle, worth more than $3 million.
“Our frontline officers continue to maintain strict vigilance in the commercial truck environment and their effective utilization of training, inspections experience and technology successfully prevented a significant load of cocaine from ever reaching U.S. streets,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
The narcotics were seized by CBP OFO and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are continuing the investigation.
