PALMER , Alaska - Scott Robb, the owner of the Guinness World Record for the largest green cabbage ever grown, added another medal to his collection on Friday with his third win at the Alaska State Fair ’s cabbage weigh-off.
The Palmer native’s entry came in at 84.2 pounds, barely half of the gargantuan 138.25-pound cabbage that netted him the win — and the world record, which stands to this day — at the 2012 State Fair, but still enough to clear the competition by four pounds. Though it was well short of his own record, an 84.2-pound cabbage was enough to bag the win for Robb.Second place went to the 80.7-pounder grown by eight-year-old Paul Dinkel of Wasilla, who also finished runner-up to Robb in 2024.“It’s not any one thing,” Robb said when asked what his secret was. “It’s a myriad of all different things, and it all has to come together. “The most important thing is having the right seed. The top growers create their own seeds across different varieties.” The Junior Division victory went to Willow’s Hunter Stirling, who won out over second-place Carter Morris of Palmer by just 0.15 pounds.
