A life insurance policy was taken out on Meaghan Louise Rose before her body was found at the bottom of a cliff. Detectives have now announced a $500,000 reward to catch her killer.

On July 18, 1997, a woman walks with her friends along the Point Cartwright Cliffs in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. She sees a wine cask on a seat, a glass on the grass.Meaghan Louise Rose, 25, was found dead at the bottom of Point Cartwright Cliffs in Queensland in 1997.Detectives at the time rule her death a suicide, and a coroner a year later decides not to hold an inquest, given there were no suspicious circumstances.

There were years of not having their concerns believed by police. Years of struggling without Rose at family events. Years of wondering what happened and whether they would ever get closure.“She would always be on the phone, always keeping up to date and always being a part of what was happening.” She had a couple of drinks while at the RSL, and they made their way home by 3.30pm that day. Kentwell said Rose had a glass of wine with dinner before watching television in the lounge room.

Her car was found by police at the carpark at the cliffs, but Kentwell said while the vehicle was examined, there was nothing police today could use to advance their investigation.
