Pellington says he didn't know the incident had happened until the Weinstein exposés came out, accelerating the. “I was shocked—number one, because she's a lovely, incredible person who I’d stayed in touch with,” he says. “I mean, just a really great artist and great person who I have great affection for. I was completely bewildered. Terrible, terrible events. I have only respect for what she's done for the cause and for her advocacy.
“He was just so heartened,” Pellington says. “He goes, ‘I can't tell you the gift you've given me before a 90-year-old guy dies.’ I mean,I was bawling. Everything is complete now because. He goes, ‘I liked every version of this movie, but this is really the one closest to my heart and closest to the story I first gave you.’ To reinterpret it, I'm so grateful for it. People now can see the best version of the movie out in the world.
