Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, announced that her cancer is in remission, marking the moment by making an emotional return to the hospital where she was treated. NBC’s Meagan Fitzgerald reports for TODAY.
Tuesday, Feb. 4 is World Cancer Day. The annual observation is marked to help raise awareness, educate and celebrate gains made in cancer research and treatment. It's also a day to come together with the goal of helping reduce cancer rates through early prevention and detection.

However you choose to commemorate this important awareness day, these World Cancer Day quotes acknowledge the strength and perseverance that those living with the disease often draw upon, as well as their families and friends. Use one of these uplifting messages to celebrate your own progress or that of someone close to you. You can also share one of these encouraging quotes to show your support for someone going through a difficult time or to recognize the accomplishment that comes with ringing the bell.
