The town of Highland’s plans for finding solutions to problematic intersections got a boost in funding courtesy of the federal government. Highland will receive $240,000 via a Roads for All grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, it announced Oct. 27. Highland was one of eight municipalities in Indiana to receive one of the grants, Highland Redevelopment Director Maria Becerra said.
“This lines us up to receive money to then implement the study findings and fix the problem areas,” Becerra said. “Any time the Federal Government gives you money is a good thing.” The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law appropriated $5 billion over 5 years, 2022-2026, to fund regional, local and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries, according to a release.
