21-year-old drowns while swimming at Oak Mountain State Park

A man rushed to the hospital from Oak Mountain State Park has died.

Pelham firefighters and other first responders were called to the beach area of the park about 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon on a possible drowning.

Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans said 21-year-old Jeremy Bartalez was resuscitated and taken to Shelby Baptist Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.No additional details were available, and park officials on Monday did not return multiple calls seeking more information.
