The San Diego County Fair features a series of cultural festivals and themed days from June 13 to July 5, celebrating Asian, Native American, Juneteenth, LGBTQ+, Gospel, K-Pop, Bluegrass, and Black & Brown communities with music, dance, and activities.
The San Diego County Fair , a beloved summer tradition, offers far more than the typical array of concerts, amusement rides, carnival games, and quirky fried foods.
This year, from June 10 through July 5, the fair presents a rich tapestry of cultural festivals and themed days that celebrate the region's diverse communities. These events, which begin on June 13 with the Asian & Pacific Islander Festival and conclude on July 5 with the Black & Brown Festival Showcase, highlight music, dance, art, and heritage through performances by local artists and interactive activities that run for most of the day.
Kicking off the cultural programming, the Asian & Pacific Islander Festival on June 13 features a full day of music, dancing, and martial arts performances representing Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, India, China, and other nations from the region.
The event takes place at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On June 14, the Native American Heritage Day honors indigenous communities with bird dancing, bird singing, a dance contest, and vendors selling traditional goods at the Del Mar Arena from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. with live music by Elliot Lawrence and Lenny "Fuzzy" Rankins, spoken word by Kendrick Dial, performances by WorldBeat Center's African drummers and dancers, DJ Kool T, and the Errrverybodi Line Dancers, plus vendors at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Embracing diversity and inclusion, Out at the Fair on June 20 celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with games, music, dancing, food, and entertainment for all ages at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 20th annual Gospel Music Day on June 27 offers a day of uplifting singing and words, though musical acts have yet to be announced; it runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the same stage.
The K-Pop Festival returns on June 28, spotlighting Korean pop music and culture with live music, dance performances, fashion, and interactive activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage. Bluegrass Music Day on July 5 features singers and bands playing string instruments, blending blues, jazz, gospel, square dance fiddling, and popular music at the Michelob ULTRA Avenue Stage from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Finally, the fair's first Black and Brown Festival Showcase, presented by the nonprofit Movement Be, takes place on July 5 at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage from 2 to 5:30 p.m., with performers to be announced later.
These festivals collectively offer a vibrant celebration of San Diego's multicultural identity, inviting visitors to experience the region's rich diversity through music, dance, and community gatherings
