Miles Morales Spider-man fighting Spot in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
2026 just released a perfect follow-up to Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse and KPop Demon Hunters in the form of February 2026's Goat. While Sony's efforts in the live-action sphere with the likes of the Sony Spider-Man Universe have seen more divided results, the company's animated installments have brought in some of the biggest heavy-hitters of the past few years.
KPop Demon Hunters' success is hard to overstate, with the movie swiftly becoming Netflix's most-watched film of all time. Similarly, the Spider-Verse movie series brought Miles Morales' Spider-Man story to the forefront of the pop culture consciousness in a major way, while garnering over $1 billion in box office results at the same time. Now, though, these films have another striking animated compatriot, which serves as a spiritual sequel of sorts to them both. 2026's Goat Is A Fascinating Sequel To KPop Demon Hunters & Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse 2026's Goat is another project made by Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks, and that subsequently features artists and creatives that worked on KPop Demon Hunters and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, with the 2026 movie featuring the same kinds of animation and art styles that appeared in these films. As such, Goat serves as a stellar follow-up to these iconic movies, building on the styles of two of the biggest animated films in recent history. While the storyline of an anthropomorphic goat joining a professional basketball team might sound very different to the premises of KPop Demon Hunters and the Spider-Verse movies, watching Goat proves it's a must-see for fans of these franchises. Goat Is The Perfect Movie To Watch During The Wait For KPop Demon Hunters 2 & Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse The art and animation style of Goat serves as the core reason that those eager to see KPop Demon Hunters 2 and Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse should give the recently released 2026 film a view. Not only does Goat match the eye-catching visuals of its beloved predecessors, it also follows up on the stylish and engaging action that made both prior stories work, thanks to its action-packed sport-focused plotline. The manner in which Goat lives up to these popular animated Sony movies is also something that can be seen in the way Goat handles its world-building and characterization, which are clearly the product of a blend of considerable time, effort, and skill, resulting in a universe that feels thought-out and lived in, and characters who all have something unique and engaging about them, no matter how big or small their role may be. How Goat will fare at the box office is as of yet unclear, as it's always possible the success of KPop Demon Hunters and the Spider-Verse franchise won't translate into success for the new film itself. That said, there's plenty of reason to hope Goat will be able to establish a foothold for itself critically and commercially - especially because this would open the door for even more animated Sony movies.
