A supplier forged the control arms using cracked raw materials
An NHTSA recall impacts 2,475 Cayenne models across the country. Impacted vehicles were manufactured between May 9, 2024, and June 19, 2024. Owners of affected vehicles will be alerted by September 13. The owners of more than 2,400 freshly-produced Porsche Cayennes in the United States will need to take their SUV to a local dealer because the driver-side front upper left control arm could snap. The Cayenne has been the industry standard for sporty and premium SUV s for many years.
These control arms could break under heavy dynamic load, leading to a loss of directional control, invariably increasing the risk of a crash. The supplier, Thk Rhythm Automotive, in the Czech Republic, may have used cracked raw materials in the forging process of the components. Although just nine faulty control arms were supplied to the German automaker, Porsche is recalling 2,475 Cayenne models manufactured between May 9, 2024, and June 19, 2024.
