Not as powerful as a Tesla Model X Plaid, but the AMG EQE SUV brings plenty of go-go to the party.
Mercedes-Benz has pushed EVs for the past couple of years, but the German luxury automaker just launched, its first all-electric performance SUV with lots of horsepower and big ambitions. This two-row sporty SUV is a great alternative for buyers looking for an electric vehicle that can be used as a family car that also delivers a healthy dose of performance.
Like any AMG model, the EQE SUV feels sportier, stronger, and speedier than standard Benz offerings. Indeed, with up to 677 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque available, it's among the most powerful SUVs in its class. The AMG EQE is certainly no Tesla Model X Plaid, but it likes to dance on twisty roads and exhibits superb body control.
The ride was calm and comfortable on city streets, and the rear-axle steering can turn the wheels 9 degrees, making it easy to maneuver around tight parking spaces. The rear steering turns the back wheels in the opposite direction to the fronts when the SUV is traveling at 37 mph or less or in the same direction at speeds exceeding that threshold.
