A first drive review of the 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto. The new supercar uses a high-revving V-12 and 3 electric motors to make more than 1,000 horsepower.
As most car geeks know, most Lamborghinis have been named after fighting bulls, but there's one notable exception: the Countach. As designer Marcello Gandini tells the tale, one member of his team had a habit of letting loose the Piedmontese swear 'Countach!' to express surprise. During one of his team's many late nights on the project, Gandini joked about calling the new V-12-powered monster by that name — only to realize it sounded pretty good in English.
The electric motors give the powertrain greater flexibility, rather than give it an EV-like punch off the line, they just fill in the torque curve down low, letting the V-12 concentrate on delivering more and more power as the revs climb. The result is nothing short of fantastic — relentlessly powerful but remarkably tractable, with a fluid power delivery that left me thankful Lambo stuck with natural aspiration every time I goosed the throttle.
