Vibrant competitions in San Fernando and Glendale drew voters who chose council members and other local seats.
On Saturday, March 2, 525 four-day vote centers officially opened in LA County. Poll workers review protocols at the Griffith Park Visitor Center. On Tuesday, March 5, voters in the city of San Fernando chose a new city councilmember to fill a seat that has been vacant since the death last year of Cindy Montañez, a longtime San Fernando public servant, leading environmentalist and former state legislator.
County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan announced the semi-final results for Tuesday’s Presidential Primary Election early Wednesday. A total of 910,857 ballots were counted, with 16% of registered voters casting ballots. Many outstanding ballots remained to be counted, Logan said, but an official number was not announced. The first post-election day update is scheduled for later today, March 6.
Challenger Leon was ahead with 51% and incumbent Rabinov was behind with 48.9% in the close Trustee Area 1 race. In Trustee Area 5, incumbent Benlian was ahead with 61.1%, and challenger Pogosyan with 38.8%.
