The Allison 10-speed automatic transmission paired to the Duramax 6.6-liter diesel V-8 is now also used with the HD's standard 6.6-liter gas V-8, replacing the previous six-speed automatic, which helps raise the gas V-8 HD's gross combined weight rating. And speaking of the diesel engine, its output has increased—it now produces 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque , and for 2024 can be paired with the max tow package on all Silverado 2500HD trims.
