Kia’s updated Telluride gets a rugged-looking option with some added abilities.
for three-row SUVs. Making things even better, for the 2023 model year Kia expands the Telluride's bandwidth with new trim levels, including an off-road-themed X-Pro model we tested recently.X-Pro certainly looks the part of a rugged-ish SUV, with blacked-out elements including a special set of gloss-black 18-inch wheels wrapped in beefy Continental all-terrain rubber. A unique bumper treatment and a special to the X-Pro Midnight Lake Blue paint round out the look.
On the downside, the test team also reported the Telluride X-Pro was more than a bit of a handful through our figure-eight and skidpad tests. While it's worth pointing out that putting a large, seven-passenger SUV like the Telluride through extreme handling exercises is akin to teaching an elephant to dance ballet, that didn't make it any less ponderous or frustrating an exercise.
This particular Telluride X-Pro test vehicle was based on the vehicle's SX Prestige trim, meaning it was loaded with the latest and greatest in Kia's new technology suite, including dual 12.3-inch screens dominating the dash—one for the instrument panel, the other a touchscreen for infotainment and other vehicle functions.
