The car manufacturer reports that on impacted models, the fuel tank grade vent valve may not have been properly welded to the fuel tank shell. If this has occurred then the weld between the grade vent valve and the fuel tank shell may separate, leading to a vapor leak or a fuel leak.states the inadequate weld could be particularly dangerous in the event of a crash as a fuel leak could easily trigger a fire.
Given the millions of Ford Transits that have been produced over the decades, it’s fortunate for Ford that this recall only involves 1,159 examples that were manufactured between November 3, 2022 and November 10, 2022. Impacted models have 95-liter fuel tanks.
