A cracked fuel line sensor housing could allow gas to leak, potentially leading the Alfa Romeo Giulia to catch fire
Alfa Romeo is recalling the 2021 Giulia over a cracked fuel line sensor housing. The faulty part could allow gas to leak, potentially starving the engine of fuel, or leading to a fire. Alfa Romeo will replace the housings in 261 Giulias at no cost to their owners. Stellantis has expanded a recall of vehicles equipped with a fuel line sensor from supplier Hutchinson to include the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia.
That could leave the Giulia without power on the road, exposing occupants and other road users to unnecessary danger. However, the problem may be more immediate than that, too. In rare cases, the leaking fuel could come into contact with a hot surface, and a fire could spark. Alfa Romeo does not say how many warranty reports it has received relating to this issue, but Maserati said that it was not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this problem in its vehicles.
