HAL 9000, the primary antagonist of the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey, is reimagined as a glitchy artificial intelligence in a video that serves as a commentary on modern-day society. 2001: A Space Odyssey was a revolutionary science fiction film released in 1968, and is one of the best movies directed by Stanley Kubrick. 2001: A Space Odyssey follows David Bowman and a crew of astronauts who are sent on a mission through space.
HAL 9000 Is A Sinister Villain In 2001: A Space Odyssey HAL's Action In 2001: A Space Odyssey Caused Many People To Fear Technology Close ✕ Remove Ads In the video, HAL 9000 is simply misunderstanding David and innocently rebelling against him. However, in the actual film, HAL's actions lead to the deaths of several characters.
Posts HAL was ordered to keep the true nature of the mission and the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey a secret from the crew. However, HAL was also programmed to provide accurate information to the crew to guide them on their mission. These contradictory tasks cause HAL to malfunction and turn sinister. In the second act of 2001: A Space Odyssey, HAL became the evil AI program he is known as today and killed all the crew members of Discovery One except for David.
