Hallee Hirsch from 'Malcolm in the Middle' in the 'Traffic Jam' episode

Some sitcoms age into nostalgia bait. Others stay funny enough that a revival actually feels worth doing. Malcolm in the Middle is very much the second kind, which is why this comeback has landed with so much goodwill before a single new episode has even aired.

The new story picks up nearly two decades later, with Malcolm living his own life until Hal and Lois drag him back into family chaos for their 40th wedding anniversary. Which, honestly, sounds exactly right. Disney has confirmed that Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair premieres on April 10, 2026. The revival is a four-episode limited series and will stream on Disney+ in some territories and on Hulu/Hulu on Disney+ in others. The cast brings back Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as Hal, Jane Kaczmarek as Lois, Christopher Kennedy Masterson as Francis, Justin Berfield as Reese, and Emy Coligado as Piama. New additions include Keeley Karsten as Malcolm’s daughter Leah, Kiana Madeira as Malcolm’s girlfriend Tristan, Vaughan Murrae as Kelly, and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark taking over the role of Dewey, replacing Erik Per Sullivan, who chose not to return. Other returning favorites include Gary Anthony Williams as Stevie’s dad, Abe, and David Anthony Higgins as Craig Feldspar — still probably working at Lucky Aide, bless his heart. The youngest brother from the original series, Jamie, will now be played by Anthony Timpano, since the character was only a toddler when fans last saw him. Posts By Macklen Makhloghi What Can We Expect From 'Life's Still Unfair'? “It’s been 20 years since we said goodbye, and now we’re seeing the family again and each person,” Cranston said last year, prior to production beginning, of reuniting with his on-screen family. Now that the actor has reunited with his sons almost two decades later, he admits: “All the boys were around the same age, now, that I was when I started 25 years ago. They’ve got kids of their own. It’s just great to see I’m asked to do physical comedy on that show and I realized, ‘Oh, it’s been 20 years since I did that.’ I have a few extra restrictions now, so it’s like I’m crawling around. I’m, of course, naked again. That’s no surprise, no surprise at all.” Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair Like Follow Followed TV-14 Comedy Drama Release Date April 10, 2026 Network Disney+, Hulu Directors Ken Kwapis Cast
