Are these all *only* said in Blackburn?
One of the greatest things about Lancashire is the amount of different slang words and phrases attributed to each region of the county.
With words only Prestonians would know and phrases only someone from West Lancs would utter - we're all proud of where we come from. But, whether you've lived somewhere your whole life or you've recently moved, there might be some words and phrases you aren't particularly familiar with. Some are universal though, for example a 'ginnel' is a word a lot of Lancastrians use to describe an alleyway, particularly one in between two buildings. Another common one we can all agree on is saying you're 'chuffed' when there's something you're really pleased about.Despite there being some similarities with our regional languages, there's definitely some words and phrases that are specific to certain regions.
If this sounds like you, you're in luck - because one resident, Sarah Beransaconi Parsons has put together a list of slang words and phrases from the borough and we want to know how many you use. Some of them might also be familiar to people living in other areas of Lancashire - let us know what you recognise in the comments below.5. Pez - Poor person9. Choddy or speg - Chewing gum14. Feightin - Fighting17. Belming - Not telling the truth20. Put woodinth’ole - Shut the door
