KOTA KINABALU: A group of 20 students who tried to get high ended up being poisoned, with six of them fighting for their lives in hospital.

The male students of SMK Pinggan-Pinggan in Pitas were said to have mixed carbonated drinks with thinner liquid before consuming it on Tuesday.

He said the six were being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital while the rest were warded in Pitas Hospital.“We want to prevent similar incidents and will be looking into this matter seriously,” he said. He said the students were being treated at various hospitals after they complained of feeling ill while some suffered muscle cramps and had breathing difficulties, among other symptoms.
