Edinburg resident Aime Ramos, a 42-year-old mother of two, said gun violence is a major concern for her – especially school shootings. She remembers the terror she felt after the Uvalde school shooting.“I was afraid to send my kids to school,” Ramos said, “I told my daughter, ‘Don't go, don't go, don't go,’ because I was scared. Everybody has guns.

“Not even in my church parking lot ,” said Flor Sifuentes, 40, of Houston, who works for FEMA and in real estate.Most people interviewed were confident that they would be voting in the election – several had a good idea who they were going to vote for in larger races, though a few said they still have to do more research before casting their ballots.Photography by Marie D.
