Cops say the two crashes happened about 15 minutes apart. In the first case, around 10:15 p.m. Monday, a vehicle believed to be a sedan collided with another vehicle at an intersection near the Hauppauge/Brentwood border. The impact sent one of the vehicles off the road and onto a sidewalk, where it hit 28-year-old Cherokee Fletcher.Just a short time later, around 10:30 p.m. in West Islip, police say another woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
