The Los Angeles Police Department said two of the injured victims were released from hospitals on Monday, but the other two remained in critical condition.
LAPD said there were a total of five gunshot victims, including the three dead. Police have not said how the other two victims were injured.
There were still few clues about what led up to the shooting: Police went to the home at 2799 Ellison Drive at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday after reports of a barrage of gunfire in the normally quiet, pricey neighborhood. The shooting started just outside the home, which police and neighbors said was a short-term rental. All of the victims were found outside, but the suspected gunmen were gone.All three of the dead were identified as out-of-state residents on Sunday: Iyana Hutton, 33, of Chicago, Nenah Davis, 29, of Bolingbrook, Illinois and Destiny Sims, 26, of Buckeye, Arizona.
LAPD said all three were inside a vehicle when they were shot. Davis and Sims died inside the car, according to the coroner’s office. Hutton was able to get out, but died in the street. Though it’s not clear whether there was an event the night of the shooting, neighbors said they believed the house the victims were visitingLAPD initially described the shooting as a “gun battle,” but since the initial response, officials have not said how many shooters they believed were involved in Saturday’s violence. No description of any suspects has been released so far.
