Two first responders died in a truck fire near Green River on Sunday night in an off-duty accident.
GREEN RIVER, Emery County —
Green River Fire Chief Ben Lehnhoff said the two were on a trail near "G Hill" in an older Chevy pickup truck. The truck lost traction on a hill, rolled over and caught fire. Green River Fire Department responded to the accident but both men were confirmed dead on the scene, Lehnhoff said. The men were identified as Shawn O'Keefe, a firefighter since 2020, and Stephen Mayall, a driver for the city's emergency medical services department.
