All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 reopened in Lynnwood Monday morning after a crash left a Washington State Patrol trooper injured.

Don't miss our weekly town hall.A "suspected impaired" driver struck a Washington State Patrol trooper who was parked on the right shoulder of I-5 in Lynnwood in the morning of May 27, 2024. The trooper suffered minor injuries, WSP said.
WSP said the trooper was hit while parked on the right shoulder — "with normal driving lights activated" — of northbound I-5 near 44th Avenue West. A "suspected impaired driver struck the rear of the patrol vehicle," according to WSP.at 11:13 a.m. that "in less than 24 hours, two troopers in Snohomish County were struck by suspected impaired drivers."
"Both troopers were parked and safely off the roadway when they were struck," Harding wrote. "One trooper sustained minor injuries. Both drivers were booked into jail for DUI."
