Who knew you could step outside and box things out and it was perfectly legal? Well, at least in two states, it is.

First, if you just punch someone, it is illegal. Also, you can’t use weapons, and if you cause serious bodily injury, the paper reports, it’s not protected under law. Also, gang initiations are not protected by the law.

The Star-Telegram says it statute 22.06 of the Texas Penal Code. And, it says, it someone is charged with assault they can use it as a defense, again, as long as no one was seriously hurt, and “the victim knew of the risks and participated anyway.”
