Police say the body of Nadia Vitels was discovered last week in the closet of her dead mother's apartment.
Two squatters suspected of killing a woman in New York City and putting her body in a duffel bag were arrested Friday morning in Pennsylvania, as reported by PIX 11 News.The 'persons of interest' were picked up in York, according to the NYPD.Video above: Headlines from News 8 at Noon.Police said the body of Nadia Vitels, 52, was discovered March 14 in a bag in the closet of her dead mother's apartment.The apartment had been vacant for a few months.
Vitel was in town from Spain to set it up for a family friend.'We believe that some squatters took the apartment over, and this woman came home to get this apartment set up and walked in on the squatters that were there,' NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.It's not clear how the squatters gained access to the building.Police said the suspects stole the victim's car after the killing and fled to Pennsylvania, where they crashed.
