The Browns had opportunities to take control of Monday night's loss to the Steelers but left opportunities on the table.
Here are more observations from the Browns’ 26-22 loss on Monday Night Football.
On third-and-1, the Browns ran play action to Elijah Moore that the Steelers sniffed out. Then, on fourth-and-1, they ran some kind of option resulting in a Watson run. He fumbled and the ball ended up short of the first down. As far as exposing your quarterback to hits, watch the option play again. Watson was much more at risk on that play than he would have been simply sneaking the ball. They have to figure this scenario out.
* Martin Emerson Jr. has allowed a quarterback rating of just 39.6 when targeted, according to PFF, tied for fourth-best in the league with Pittsburgh’s Joey Porter Jr. and Cincinnati’s DJ Turner II -- and Emerson has played at least 30 more coverage snaps than both of them. He’s allowed one catch on eight targets. He’s becoming a legitimate outside cornerback.
