A 38-year-old woman and 35-year-old man died in the shootings on New Year's Eve, police say.
AKRON, Ohio — Police are investigating after separate shootings on New Year’s Eve left two people dead and a 5-year-old girl wounded.
A 38-year-old woman was found dead by officers in an apartment after reports of gunshots at 7:45 p.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of Brittain Road in the Chapel Hill neighborhood, according to police. The young girl also was found wounded in the apartment, police say. The girl was take to Akron Children’s Hospital and is expected to recover. The identities of the victims have not been released.At 11:55 p.m., police were called to the 1200 block of Louisiana Avenue in the Kenmore neighborhood. A 35-year-old man was found inside a residence with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center but he died of his wounds, police say.
