Two more homicide investigations are now open following a violent Mother’s Day weekend that saw Montgomery police respond to 16 shooting incidents.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Two more homicide investigations are open following a violent Mother’s Day weekend that saw Montgomery police respond to multipleOn Tuesday, the Montgomery Police Department confirmed the deaths of Demetrus Porter, 39, and Jeffrey Williams, 34, both of Montgomery. The homicides are unrelated, but happened within two hours of each other in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 12.
Police and fire medics responded to the shooting involving Williams at 1:14 a.m. in the 1100 block of Oak Street. Williams was taken to an area hospital in life-threatening condition where he remained until his death on Saturday. Less than two hours later at 2:54 a.m., first responders were called to the 500 block of East Patton Avenue where they found Porter in life-threatening condition. He died from his injuries on Monday.
There are no motives or suspects identified in either of these homicide cases. Anyone with any information about either murder is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 625-4000, or MPD at 625-2831.
