Komi and Omsk join other regions in implementing mandates as fears over Omicron's arrival in the country intensify.

Russian regions are continuing to implement COVID-19 vaccination mandates for their older population, the Associated Press reported.

It is not the only age group in Russia that is being required to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Some regions are mandating essential workers to get vaccinated, although AP reported that it is in place only for"certain categories" of workers. Russia's coronavirus task force reported 32,930 new cases on Friday along with 1,217 deaths. In total, over 9.7 million cases and 278,857 deaths have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.Russian regions are continuing to implement COVID-19 vaccination mandates for age 60 and up, with Komi and Omsk the most recent.
