Two men were wounded in a shooting in the bleachers of a recreational field while children were practicing peewee football next to the Temple University campus Friday evening in North Philadelphia, police said.

Two men were arguing in the bleachers of the field at 11th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue that is used by the North Philadelphia Blackhawks, a celebrated Pop Warner team, when one man shot the other in the hand, then fired a second shot that wounded another man in the hip, said Capt. John Walker, commanding officer of the Shooting Investigation Group.

The 36-year-old man shot in the hip was transported by police to Temple University, where he was listed in stable condition. The 35-year-old man shot in the hand was taken by private vehicle to Temple and also reported in stable condition. The assailant, who fired two shots from a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, ran from the scene and was still at large.Another group of young people also were using the field for lacrosse practice and were not hurt, Walker said.
