Dallas, Texas first responders are searching the Trinity River for two people who reportedly went underwater but did not resurface on Easter Sunday.
Updated April 10, 2023, to reflect the individuals were believed to be dead.
Dallas authorities said they believe two men died Sunday afternoon in the Trinity River but their bodies hadn’t been recovered as of Monday morning. More than a dozen Dallas Fire-Rescue units were searching for the men Sunday after people reported seeing them go underwater about 3:30 p.m. but never resurfacing, department spokesperson Jason Evans said.Search efforts were focused in the Elm Fork portion of the river after initial reports indicated the incident occurred by the dam near California Crossing Parking, located in the 1600 block of California Crossing Road.
