NJ Transit officials are investigating an incident in Newark that sent two people to the hospital Wednesday and delayed trains for about 45 minutes during the afternoon commute, officials said.
At about 3:27 p.m. NJ Transit police responded to the tracks at Roseville and 7th Avenue in Newark for a report of trespassers, officials from NJ Transit said. Initial reports indicated two people may have been trespassing on an overhead signal structure and been “injured by electricity,” leading to them falling onto the tracks, according to officials.
The men were taken to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown Wednesday afternoon.Trains have since resumed running.
