Two people were injured in Pierce County after a driver failed to yield for a red light, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A car was going northbound on State Route 167 approaching 187th Street in lane one of two. Another car was in the center turn lane of SR 167 at 187th Street and turned onto westbound 187th Street. The car going northbound failed to yield for a red light and hit the other car, said the WSP.

After failing to yield, the car veered off the road to the east side of SR 167 and stopped after hitting a pole. The car that was hit stopped on westbound 187th Street in lanes one and two. The 33-year-old man from Puyallup that allegedly didn’t yield was taken to St. Joes Hospital for injuries and his charges are currently pending investigation. The 44-year-old woman from Puyallup that was hit was injured but didn’t go to the hospital.
