"Report of flames and foam being discharged over the affected area of the building," Sycamore Fire Chief Bart Gilmore said. "The report was that there was a paint can that exploded. We don't know if it was dropped or if it was part of another system that they had going. Initial crews came in, met some fire. The foam suppression system was not meeting the need. The sprinkler system needed to be assisted by fire engines.
"The potential was very bad, luckily they had an excellent suppression system," Chief Gilmore said. "Luckily, we had a fast response time and the fire was able to be suppressed before any real significant damage and this became a much larger incident."Copyright © 2024 WLS-TV. All Rights Reserved.
