Two people were injured in a machete attack Sunday night in Wenatchee, and a 44-year-old man has been arrested, according to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a stabbing at about 7:35 p.m. May 17, 2026, in the 200 block of W. Peters Street. Upon arrival, deputies found two victims who had been attacked with a machete. One victim had wounds to his left arm and shoulder, and the second victim had an injury to their right arm. Both received medical aid.
Investigators said the assault followed a verbal dispute over money. The suspect left after the argument, then returned shortly afterward with a machete and attacked the victims. Deputies later found the suspect in a camper in the 3000 block of School Street, which is about 0.2 miles away from an elementary school. During the arrest, deputies saw a machete in plain view on the passenger-side floorboard of the camper.
The man was arrested and booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on two counts of second-degree assault. The camper was impounded while deputies sought a search warrant. Deputies later executed the warrant and recovered the weapon they said was used in the assault. A Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai was forced to divert to Seattle after a passenger became disruptive.
