San Diego police are investigating after two people were shot in Linda Vista Friday morning.
Two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an altercation at a Linda Vista gas station turned into a shootout Friday morning, which also led to a crash, police said.
Police were called to the Chevron gas station at Ulric Street and Linda Vista Road around 5:30 a.m. for a report of multiple shootings and multiple victims, SDPD Officer O'Brien said.At the gas station, witnesses told police two people -- a juvenile and an adult male got into a fight. Each then pulled out guns and shot at each other, San Diego police Lt. Cody Turner said. Each was struck at least once.
Both shooters took off from the scene. Police then found a crash blocks away between a car and a box truck. The car was believed to be transporting the juvenile and two other people when it crashed head-on into the truck, police said.Police transported the juvenile to the hospital. The second shooter ran from the scene and was found by a bystander, who transported the man to the hospital.
Both people were shot in the chest and suffered critical injuries that left them intubated, Turner said. The officer described them as"stable" as of 10:30 a.m. One person was a juvenile and the other was an adult man, police said. At the gas station, investigators found several bullet cases on the ground and some bullet holes embedded into a building.
